Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the library expanding?
As our community continues to grow, our space needs to expand to continue to meet the needs of our patrons. We wanted to be able to provide amenities such as male and female bathrooms, study rooms, and a space for Idaho history in our building.
Did the Override Levy pay for this expansion?
No. Override funds are only used for staff, collections, and programs. These funds cannot be used for capital improvements.
Where does the money come from?
The library received a $500,000 grant called the Facilities Improvement Grant from the Idaho Commission for Public Libraries to expand our library! Other funds were donated by the Burley Public Library Foundation and the Burley Lions Club.
What will the expansion include?
- New Bathrooms
- Idaho History Area
- Teen Area

When will the expansion be complete?
The library expansion will be completed by August 15 2026.
Will there be any library closures?
There will be closures as required by our contractors while they work on various electrical systems, and as cooling systems are moved throughout the expansion process. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram for more information on closure dates.
