The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe Writing Contest: "Through the Wardrobe"
Stretch your imagination and win a prize with your writing! Enter our writing contest!
Writing Contest Rules:
- One Entry Per Person
- Open to ages 11 – 18 years old
- Last day to turn in is Thursday, April 30, 2026.
- Please include name, age, and contact information on entry
- Entry may be a short story (3 – 4 pages) or a poem.
Use one of the prompts – interpretation is up to the contestant - Turn in at Burley Public Library or email entry with “Through the Wardrobe” Entry to josie@bplibrary.org
Writing Prompts
Prompt 1: The First Step Through the Wardrobe
You push past the coats and suddenly your hand touches cold air. Snow crunches under your feet. You are no longer in your world.
What happens next?
- What do you see, hear, and feel first?
- Are you excited, scared, or both?
- Who—or what—do you meet first in Narnia?
Prompt 2: Your Role in Narnia’s Story
You discover that Narnia is in danger—and somehow, you are part of the story.
What kind of hero (or helper) are you?
- Do you fight, lead, explore, or protect others?
- What creatures become your allies?
- What is one important choice you have to make?
Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe Art Contest: "Narnia needs Color"
Do you like to color? Are you the next young Rembrandt or Michaelangelo? Then enter the Wizard of Oz coloring contest! Open to children ages 0-9. Pick up a color sheet from the library today!
Art Contest Rules

- Open to ages 0 – 10 years old
- Last day to turn in is Thursday, April 30, 2026.
- Please include name, age, and contact information on entry
- Color pages available at the Burley Library

Art and Coloring Contest open to 11 – 18 year olds!
Coloring contest rules are the same as listed above.
You can enter original art too!
Artwork must:
- Be Library appropriate
- Have some use of color besides black and white – pencil drawings are allowed but artists must include some type of color in the art.
- Last day to turn in is Thursday, April 30, 2026.
- Please include name, age, and contact information on entry
