Getting a Library Card

 

If you live inside the Burley City limits, you are eligible for a library card*.  All you need to do is bring with you 1) acceptable photo identification and 2) proof of current residence.  Refer to lists #1 & 2 for acceptable ID & address verification documents.

 If you live outside the city limits, several options are available:

 

·         The cost of a library card is $45.00+tax per year*.  This can be split into two payments of $22.50+tax.  This covers all FAMILY MEMBERS in your household.  Please bring in photo ID, refer to list #1. 

 

·         The cost of a computer-use only card is $12.00+tax per year.  This covers one user.  All library services are not available with this option.  Please bring in photo ID, see list #1.

 

·         The cost of a summer-reader library card for youth 18 & under is $1.00 and covers limited library use during the summer months only.  Two juvenile or youth adult materials can be checked out at a time.  All library services are not available with this option.

 Children, ages 17 or under, may obtain a library card if accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who must sign for acceptance of legal responsibility.

 Lists:

 

1)    Acceptable patron picture ID:

a.    Current Idaho driver’s license

b.    Current Idaho Identification card

c.    Current out-of-state driver’s license

d.    Current passport

e.    Current military ID

f.     CSI Student Card with current semester sticker & picture

g.    Current Permanent Resident Card (Green Card)

 

2)    Acceptable patron address verification (MUST include your name)

a.    Current Idaho driver’s license

b.    Current Idaho official ID card

c.    Utility bill (with patron’s name) dated within the last 30 days

d.    Other acceptable bill (with patron’s name) dated within the last 30 days

e.    Current motor vehicle registration

f.     CSI student ID card showing current address and semester sticker

g.    Letter from landlord verifying patron’s residency

 

3)    Legal Guardian of a minor must provide one of the following:

a.    Limited Power of Attorney

b.    Letter of Guardianship from  the Court

 

*You are able to check out two materials per card for the first four months unless you have lived in the area for four months or more.
